About the Event
Backyard Self-Sufficiency with Helen Wilson
Helen Wilson and her husband Mark purchased Monkey Gully as a bare block in 1997 and have since developed it into a productive, self-sufficient backyard.
Helen is passionate about growing, harvesting, preserving, and enjoying the produce from her thriving vegetable garden and diverse orchard, which includes espaliered apples and pears, stone fruit, citrus, and berries.
A skilled preserver, Helen specialises in the Fowlers Vacola preserving method and will share practical insights into preserving seasonal abundance. Join Helen as she explains what backyard self-sufficiency means to her and how anyone can apply these principles at home.
