About the Event
What does the future look like for climate in Gippsland? How will our faming be affected? Dr Linden Ashcroft can answer your questions as our special guest.
Meeting begins with a short Annual General Meeting at 7:30pm with Linden commencing at 8:00pm. She will speak for 30 minutes or more followed by 20 to 30 minutes of Q&A, with an opportunity for networking over light refreshments.
Linden is a scientist in the Climate Change and Variability team at the Bureau of Meteorology. Her research includes the role of climate change in Victoria's changing weather patterns, how citizen science can engage communities with their environment, and the rescue of historical weather observations to improve our understanding of past, present and future climate.
She will discuss the past and present climate of Gippsland, including observed impacts of climate change. Projected weather and climate into the future under different carbon scenarios will be explored, particullarly in the context of Gippsland's diverse and vital agricultural industry.
