Celebrating Energy Transitions in Gippsland

We would love to have you join us to celebrate community energy transitions in Gippsland! 

We'll be officially launching our solar system at the Yarragon Uniting Church Hall, followed by a presentation on bioenergy and the opportunities it offers in Gippsland by Emily Scholes-CEO 'Enviromicrobio'. 

The Yarragon Uniting Church Hall solar initiative received funding support from the Gippsland Community Power Hub, a program delivered by Sustainability Victoria on behalf of the Victorian Government.

Following the closure of the Hazelwood power station and scheduled closures of Yallourn and Loy Yang A and B, and the Victorian Forestry Transition Plan, a plan to cease native timber harvesting by 2030, the bioenergy and biomanufacturing sectors represent potential growth sectors for Gippsland.

Bioenergy is a form of renewable energy generated when biomass feedstock is processed using certain technologies. Biomass fuels come from organic materials such as harvest residues, purpose-grown crops and organic waste from homes, businesses and farms.

COVID-19 restrictions: As per the current rules for our venue/event, we are not required to check vaccination status of attendees. Masks are not mandatory but are encouraged (we will have some windows open to allow adequate ventilation so please bring along a jacket if the weather is chilly).
