About the Event
What kind of future are we building — and what must change to make it sustainable, just, and resilient?
Join leading environmental thinker Peter Christoff (University of Melbourne) for a wide-ranging and urgent discussion on climate change, policy failure, and the challenges facing Australia in the 21st century.
Using the Black Summer bushfires as a starting point, Christoff draws from his book The Fires Next Time (2023) to explore how systemic failures in climate policy have deep roots — and far-reaching consequences. This event goes beyond a single disaster to confront the big questions of governance, justice, and the path forward in an era of accelerating climate disruption.
Peter Christoff is a political scientist and Associate Professor who teaches Climate Change Politics and Policy and Environmental Policy at the University of Melbourne. From 2005 to 2013 he was also the Vice President of the Australian Conservation Foundation, Australia's largest national environmental NGO.
His books include Globalisation…
